Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Apple-cinnamon muffins

    • MsMonsoon on October 16, 2021

Fine muffin, not too fancy, so they are nice for having with maple butter, pumpkin butter, etc. I added almost 50% more chopped apple and the resulting volume made 12 muffins. There is 1 Tbsp of baking powder which seemed like a lot.

  • Blueberry muffins

    • MsMonsoon on June 19, 2025

Super easy and basic muffin (no sour cream, buttermilk or lemon) but loaded with blueberries. Very good and not very sweet. Recipe says it makes 16 but I got 12 plus one jumbo.

  • Molasses cookies

    • Tee.Tee on August 06, 2017

My favorite molasses cookie recipe. Crispy, and buttery with some chew. The unexpected addition of black pepper gives them a spicy kick. It fun to ask people to guess the secret ingredient.

  • Spiced sablés

    • sdeathe on July 08, 2021

These are delicate, spiced perfectly, and a little bit buttery in flavour. Wonderful.

  • Nut brittle

    • trudys_person on March 28, 2013

Used this recipe many times to make old-fashioned peanut brittle - works great every time!
