Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Lemon and thyme chicken with winter-roasted vegetables

    • adewar on February 15, 2016

Roasting so many different kinds of vegetables together, all with different rates of browning, then adding chicken breasts and trying to ensure they were cooked through, was a bit of a nightmare. The cooking time stated was too long. On the other hand, I was glad I made this because roasted swede was quite a pleasant revelation.

  • Quite the best summer pudding

    • Lovestocook on July 20, 2019

Couldn't get currants, subbed extra blueberries & raspberries. Went down very well!!

  • Double chocolate terrine

    • Ro_ on January 02, 2024

I didn't have a loaf tin the right size so had to use a glass tupperware thing, but since it was just for the two of us and didn't need to look totally fancy it was fine. This was easy to do and tasted great, would repeat. It's worth using really good quality chocolate I think.

  • Pork, leek and sage burgers

    • Ro_ on May 31, 2021

These went down surprisingly well with the family, who I thought would moan that a beef burger would be better. I wish I'd read Mary's tip about serving with apple sauce and actually bought some apple sauce, because I think that would have taken these to the next level.

  • Quinoa and rocket salad with a garlic dressing

    • Ro_ on October 14, 2020

This was nice, and would be a good dish to take to a barbecue or any sort of summer pot luck event. I'm not sure that outside those contexts I'd necessarily go out of my way to make it again, though the dressing was good.
