      This is a versatile and tasty recipe. Used Maris Piper potatoes cut small and added some green beans instead of beetroot. Will make it as written next time.

  • French lamb casserole

      I used this recipe as a template as I didn't have all of the ingredients namely flageolet beans or turnip but had small amounts of the other veg to use. I ignored the turnip (never a favourite) and replaced the flageolet beans with cannellini beans and it was delicious. Will definitely make it again as it was a low maintenance dish for a weeknight. I might try using white vermouth if I had no white wine to use up.

      Made this again. As I couldn't find lamb neck fillet I bought lamb rump steaks. Made the decision to cook the vegetables as a stew and cooked the lamb as steaks separately. Worked pretty well - right decision for the lamb...not as tasty overall of course.

  • Cod with chorizo and white beans

      I followed the recipe exactly - the white cabbage I used had imparted a bitter taste to the sauce/stew when I tasted it halfway through cooking, so I added 3/4 tsp of brown sugar and a bay leaf (cut in two) to counteract the bitterness. That worked, but next time I will use the much milder Hispi (pointed) cabbage for this recipe.

      Delicious but the listed measures created too much filling for the quiche.

      Really loved this one. An indulgent way to eat a good lot of vegetables. Ideal for a cozy night in. I used pumpkin instead of butternut squash and added some thyme to the crumble. I’d thicken the liquid in the filling next time instead of reducing it in order to keep a firm texture to the veg.

  • Spinach, ricotta and Parma ham lasagne

      This was good but difficult to season and didn’t really need the Parma ham. If I do it again, I would take care to better season the spinach-ricotta mix as well as the tomato sauce. Looks really good though.

  • Chicken pie with a corn crust

      Very tasty and fairly quick to prepare weeknight meal. A rich meal (cheese and butter) but really enjoyed the sweet corn crust.

      Taste was okay nothing special. Best served straight away. Recipe makes a lot I would half if I made it again.
