      Delicious and fairly easy. Nice after dinner with armagnac and also nice with coffee for breakfast. I got the book from the library and this single recipe was good enough that I'm buying the book!

  • Double chocolate mousse cake

      Very good but quite intensely chocolate-y, almost too much so for me. It's pretty much a thin layer of cake as a vehicle for the ganache frosting, which comes out almost truffle-like. I was happy with only a small piece (that was nice with armagnac), but those in the family with a serious sweet tooth really loved the cake.

      Made this for Thanksgiving and got tons of compliments. Unfortunately the roll did not work out well. I let the cake sit for longer than called for in the recipe and the cake cracked when I rolled it. No problem- I topped it with whipped cream and strawberries to cover the cracks.

      The cream cheese frosting was smooth and fluffy. It was easy to make and had a great cream cheese flavor.

      Despite adding cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg to the carrot cake, there was actually very little flavor to the cake. Although it was moist and had a nice texture, the finished cake tasted only of the cream cheese frosting.

      This was delicious and easy. The flavor was spot on and the cake was nice & moist. This makes A LOT of frosting, which is divine.
