      I made this to go with Swedish meatballs and it was so good! I think cooking the sugar/vinegar and pouring it on the cucumbers when hot makes such a difference. They were tart and sweet and perfect with the meatballs! I left them for an hour in the refrigerator to cure/cool.

      I was intrigued by this recipe, as it is so unusual. It was fine but I probably won't make it again.

  • Real Swedish meatballs

      My husband has been craving a Swedish meatball feast and we won't be visiting again any time soon so I found this recipe and made the feast. We ate them with mashed potatoes and gravy, pickled cucumbers and ligonberry sauce. What a treat! I made these closely following the recipe (with oats/broth for the binder). I used the 1 tbsp scoop to make the meatballs and liked the size but they took longer to cook- maybe 8-9 minutes? They were delicious. I recommend this recipe- and this book, which I adore but doesn't get a lot of love on this site.

      I made this for Christmas Eve and it was a hit. We loved the combination of dense rice pudding with whipped cream folded in and cherries on top!

  • Cinnamon wreath with rye

      I was a bit confused by the directions, which mentioned making two rolls and then didn't say what I should do with them. I would need two rolls to make my wreath look like the one in the picture but I made one, followed directions from another website to shape it and everything turned out fine. I cooked the wreath for 25 minutes and it looked a bit dark. I was worried I had burned it but once I put the icing on it everything looked fine. I made this for a holiday party and received enthusiastic feedback. It was good but I'm not sure I'll make it again, given all the time and effort involved.

  • Real cinnamon buns

      These are the best kanelbullar I have ever made. The dough is rich and scented with cardamom. The finished bun is moist and full of flavor. I made knots instead of the swirls described in the book (because they are so pretty) and they were done in twelve minutes. I cannot get over how fantastic these are!

  • Danish dream cake (Drømmekage fra Brovst)

      This cake is delightful! The coconut topping on mine was not dark like the picture so next time I will cook the butter and sugar for a while until it starts to darken and caramelize before adding the coconut and milk.
