Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Vanilla bean-blackberry scones

    • bwhip on October 27, 2024

These were really good, tender and delicious. I used big, beautiful blueberries in mine. Three vanilla beans! I reduced the sugar by about half because I didn’t want them to be overly sweet, especially since they also get a glaze.

  • Dark chocolate banana bread

    • bwhip on November 08, 2024

So good! Definitely one of the best banana bread recipes I've tried, particularly for those of us that love deep, dark chocolate. Delicious warm out of the oven, and still great the next day. I didn't have a fourth banana to put on top, and I didn't add chocolate chips to the top, as it seemed like it already had plenty. For me the overall result was just perfect.

  • The best chocolate chip cookies in the world

    • bwhip on October 30, 2024

The best in the world? Hmmm, maybe! Not sure I’ve had better. These are really good. With browned butter, a high proportion of brown sugar, an extra egg yolk and big chocolate chunks (I used Ghirardelli 70%), they’re quite awesome! And some flakes of salt on top to add just a bit more magic. Definitely some of the best I’ve ever had.

  • Spiced pumpkin snickerdoodles

    • bwhip on October 25, 2024

Delicious and really addictive! I noticed some differences between the recipe on the author's website vs. the book, but I used the book recipe. I did brown the butter rather than just melting it, because brown butter always seems to make recipes better (and she called for that on the website). Next time I might add an egg yolk per the web version, just to see how it changes the texture.

  • Nutella-swirled chocolate chip blondies

    • Kinhawaii on October 27, 2024

Delicious- I thought these would be too sweet but I will definitely make these again. I may use slightly less nutella since it almost became like a frosting- which could be a good thing if that’s what you want. I like that they aren’t too thin & are moist.

  • Cherry Danish cake

    • Kinhawaii on December 02, 2024

This was nice & easy. I made half a recipe in an 8 inch square & just did a regular drizzle without the cream cheese because I didn’t want to break out a bar. I think with all the sour cream in the cake it didn’t make that much difference.

  • Lunch lady brownies

    • Knead2Quilt on October 25, 2024

I have made Lunch Lady Brownies several times. So easy to make, no mixer needed. They are amazing. I love them cold from the fridge.
