Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Glazed autumn medley

    • Laura on October 27, 2009

I wouldn't bother with this recipe. A lot of sugar with not much reward.

  • Braised leeks

    • wester on September 30, 2010

Tastes good. I don't have any skillet that fits whole leeks though, and halving them lengthwise means they fall apart. Next time I will cut them up in rings.

  • Fennel purée

    • wester on September 30, 2010

Nice, but it tastes like it could use some more fat.

  • Lime-mint slush

    • wester on October 09, 2010

Sweet and refreshing. Easy to make. The kids loved it too. Same recipe as Banana-mint slush from Fresh Start.

  • Coffee sip

    • wester on October 09, 2010

Easy low-fat iced coffee. Same recipe as in Fresh Start.

  • Lemon rice with leeks

    • wester on September 30, 2010

Nice but nothing special. The bite was just right, but it was a bit salty and the lemon and other flavors were not very apparent anymore.

    • eliza on September 28, 2020

I liked this dish a lot, and have repeated several times. Used a homemade chicken stock and it came out with good texture and flavour.

  • Lemon mousse

    • eliza on July 03, 2022

Made this a while ago and it was very good. I don’t use her “low fat blend”; instead I used a mixture of sour cream and yogurt.

  • Great green vegetable tart

    • Jswendt on September 16, 2011

Though this was reasonably tasty, when I took it out of the oven, it was sitting in a pool of liquid. The "custard" i.e. eggs and cheese did not cook as they should have. Not sure why. Perhaps should have salted and drained zucchini first and actually dried (even though I drained) the beans and broccoli. The other negative is that lots of dishes are involved in the prep.

  • Tarragon lobsters

    • janbernstein on August 12, 2012

      8/2012 used Costco frozen lobster.

  • Susie's baked apples

  • Moroccan chicken salad

    • br22 on July 02, 2022

This is good; great flavor. Next time I’m going to try omitting the majority of the broth; a fair amount of liquid at the bottom of the bowl.

  • Garlic and Swiss chard fettuccine

    • JoCam1717 on September 05, 2014

The lemon and parsley make this dish "taste like spring"! Light & refreshing. It would be best served with a protein source such as chicken, scallops or tofu. Could also add more vegetables, if desired.

  • Broccoli pesto

    • swegener on February 01, 2015

I made this when I was trying a bunch of different pestos. I like the idea of adding veggies to the pesto.

  • Currant scones

    • hbakke on November 09, 2022

I followed the recipe exactly and had interesting results (unsure where I went wrong). First batch were "scone" puddles, so I added more flour to the remaining dough which resulted in weird little balls of "scone". They had the texture of a muffin and were not at all scone-like. Although they tasted great, I'm not in a hurry to repeat this recipe.

  • Cool cucumber soup

    • Suitsme on July 19, 2020

There are so many better recipes out there for cucumber soup. Not enough cucumbers, too much dairy.

  • Preserved lemons

    • cooking_Jan on December 28, 2021

This recipe found (on page 493) is not that detailed compared to others.
