Notes about this book

  • rathgrith on March 04, 2010

I like to make at least a couple SBD dinners a week. They are tasty and healthy. I use this, the Taste of Summer, and Quick and Easy books. My husband once complained (when I was actively following SBD) that he didn't want to have to eat "diet food," but he never noticed when I made recipes from these books! Now I like to keep them in rotation just to keep the calories and carbs down throughout the week.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Artichoke salad with olives

    • debiliem on January 31, 2015

Phase 1 of the diet. Mediterranean dish. I used a light version of mayonnaise and artichoke hearts in olive oil. I omitted adding the extra tablespoons of olive oil to the mayonnaise dressing the second time I made it, I found it added additional unnecessary calories and the mayonnaise sort of separated with the oil. I used ready to use roasted red peppers from a jar. Serve with white fish.

  • Grilled mahi mahi on chopped salad with olive oil lemon vinaigrette

      Excellent very light and refreshing.

Publishers Text

A key factor in the The South Beach Diet Cookbook success is the great-tasting, well-balanced meals Dr. Arthur Agatston promotes, offering more than 200 recipes that adhere to the diet's nutritional principles without compromising on taste. Beginning with a brief overview of the science-based eating philosophy and why it produces such dramatic results, the book also includes success stories, troubleshooting tips, and frequently asked questions, plus the recipes, from Whole Grain Pancakes with Berry Cream Syrup to Filet Mignon with Tomatoes and Rosemary to Chocolate-Hazelnut Flourless Cake. Also included are new recipes contributed by prominent South Beach chefs and by readers themselves.
