Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Apple sauce

    • sharifah on May 22, 2020

First-time making home made apple sauce. Very easy to simply microwave the apples, pulse in the food processor, and freeze. Have defrosted them and used in brownies and flapjacks - works very well.

  • Chicken with white wine and herbs

    • adewar on December 06, 2015

This is a nice family recipe, making enough for 8 portions of food. You can serve it as a stew or add some ham and puff pastry for a lovely winter pie.

  • Thai green curry paste

    • adewar on November 24, 2015

This is such a sensible way to make Thai Green Curry - make up a batch of paste in advance, frozen into cubes, then you can knock together an amazing Thai Green Curry very easily whenever it takes your fancy. The paste makes very fresh tasting sauces - so much better than from a jar.

  • Creamy courgette, leek and Parmesan soup

    • sharifah on May 22, 2020

I halved the recipe and it worked really well. Was very impressed with how creamy and delicious the soup is, and from very simple day-to-day ingredients. Will definitely make again.

  • Leek and Stilton tarts

    • adewar on November 24, 2015

Really good adaptable recipe - the tarts look very impressive, taste very good and are easy to make in advance and reheat when guests arrive.Perfect for vegetarian dinner parties.

  • Sausages baked with Puy lentils

    • adewar on March 02, 2016

Rich and delicious recipe for a wintry day supper. The combination of sausages, mustard and puy lentils works really well. I have made once with dried puy lentils and once with the pre-cooked ones (you need to reduce liquid and cooking time if you use precooked lentils). I have also successfully tried adding mushrooms. Good with mash or rice.

  • Healthier flapjacks

    • adewar on November 24, 2015

slightly softer than normal texture due to the grated apple

  • Sticky chicken

    • adewar on November 24, 2015

This recipe is a reliable standby for family buffets - goes down well with children and teens

  • Fish pie with hidden veg

    • adewar on March 23, 2016

Lovely homely recipe. I used frozen fish fillets to make it and replaced the broccili with frozen peas.

    • sharifah on May 22, 2020

Very nice fish pie, like the idea of adding veggies into the dish. I swapped smoked haddock for the salmon as I didn't have enough salmon. I swapped oat milk for the milk, as we don't eat dairy anymore - worked ok. I omitted the cheese. And just the right portion for two hungry adults for two nights! Will make again.
