    Can substitute winter squash for calabaza.

    I didn't have squash or cabbage so left out. I had high hopes for the soup, and flavor was okay but the whole thing was stodgy and too starchy (says this carb lover). Maybe the cabbage would have helped, and I really liked the finishing sofrito, but don't think I'll repeat.
