    First artichoke of the season so it's time to pull out the vegetable cookbooks that tend to get ignored. Yes, this is a standard artichoke with garlic butter recipe - but with bay leaves and peppercorns added to the water used for steaming. Subtle, pleasant flavor addition worth repeating ... and worth experimenting with.
