    This is one of my favorite soups in the book. I usually omit the turnips and add a bit more of the other veggies. Agree with the suggestion that vegetable broth is probably not needed for this soup. The pickles add a nice tang, and they really do dissolve in the soup.

    Like most recipes in this cookbook, it is loaded with lots of veggies which makes for a delicious broth without using prepared vegetable broth. May want to add a little more water. Very good!

    I go light on the dill and use vinegar pickled dills -not fermented pickles. Something about it not being vinegary enough with the fermented ones. very good; but it does make a lot!
