  • Family loved it. I had to cook everything for way longer than 25 minutes though as well as turning the oven onto fan grill to give the required charred effect but that’s partly my oven

  • I think there was too much rice (8 cups) in this recipe. The rice isn’t really fried, especially when you add all the sauces. It tastes delicious and reheats well, but I will try it with half the rice and fry it a bit before adding the sauce. You should also make sure the chicken is cooked before adding the rice. Admittedly I only had the rice in the fridge for a few hours rather than overnight. It’s only the second recipe I’ve made from this book and the other one didn’t work out too well either. Ill give it one more chance before donating the book. From the look of the other comments, perhaps the recipes aren’t written very well, which is surprising, given its title of “Asian Cookery School”

  • Very easy and very tasty, maybe not the best sweet and sour pork I’ve made. I would also double the pork next time, or maybe use 400g

  • We loved this too. My husband certainly wasn’t expecting to. I didn’t have dried mint but used a mint chutney spice mix which I think made the mince delicious. I made half the recipe with quorn mince and my vegetarian son was not convinced that he wasn’t eating meat, but he thoroughly enjoyed the peppers

  • My potatoes were a bit too crispy and my caramel seized when I added the water so it wasn’t a total success. If I make it again, I will add the water to the sugar to the water before heating which is how I usually make caramel

  • Great salad. The toasted pita bread pieces are amazing and the kids have started making them to eat with hummus as well

  • Delicious. I followed the advice given here and put the apples and onions for 15 minutes before the sausages and raisins and they were just right

  • Like some others, I was a bit disappointed with this. The fish taste was overpowered by the cumin and the cakes were too soft. The tomato sauce was lovely but I won’t bother making this again

  • Puttanesca-baked white fish.I expected that this would taste great and it did I’ll certainly make it again, it’s also very easy

  • Mushroom tart -super easy and super delicious: it’s a mushie tarte tatin without the caramel

  • Everything I’ve made from this book has been delicious and this is no exception. The turmeric dressing and hummus make a great combination. I marinated my own feta 2 days in advance. We have it with leftover roast chicken which we just leave off for the vegetarians. The pumpkin/squash is beautifully chewy

  • Lovely tasting cake. Make sure to tent with foil to stop the top from becoming brown and tough. It’s better to make a double or deeper apple layer. Next time I will also grease the bottom paper layer with melted butter to see if that will stop some of my caramel sticking to it. Not much stuck but I’d like it to be perfect as it’s an impressive cake for very little effort

  • Loved by my husband and son who finished it all off quickly. I cooked it as per the recipe but I don’t think we have cremini mushrooms in Australia so I just used white button mushrooms and I think they could have been tastier. Next time I will use Swiss browns and maybe some soaked or ground porcinis. I like the suggestion of substituting taleggio for mozzarella.

  • These were wonderful. The pastry is delicious and flaky and the filling is great. I’ll be making these again and soon

  • This was ok, it was tasty but like most of the slow cooked meat dishes I have made. They just have a general savoury meat taste. It was nicer the day after I made it and I really enjoyed it for lunch

  • Really lovely flavour. I cooked the beans for 3 minutes and they were over cooked. Next time I will try 2 minutes. Great easy side dish

  • We have this with every curry. It is really tasty and the rice grains are all separated, it is just so quick, easy and perfect

  • This made a good thin crispy base. It didn’t rise as much as my usual pizza dough does in the second rise so maybe needed longer than the 30 minutes specified. I liked it as it was though and the family agreed

  • Delicious ratatouille filling but my pie bottoms were soggy, maybe I should have made a bigger hole in the pastry lid. I also used frozen shop-bought pastry. I will be making these again and I will make the up the short crust pastry recipe in the book next time.

  • Lovely, but a lot of steps and in Australia, extremely expensive for the dried porcini and mixed mushrooms. My husband asked me to remember it so we can have it again soon.

  • This is absolutely heavenly. I find blood plums are best and taste your limes to make sure they are sweet enough or not too sour. Mine were off my tree and perhaps not quite ripe enough the second time I made this

  • We love this and as noted by the other reviewers, it was extremely filling. Nice hearty dish for winter

  • Really delicious but my blackberries lost their shape so I might cook them for less time next time I make this

  • Torta Caprese (flourless almond cake). This is a birthday favourite, it’s really easy to make and works out perfectly every time. It’s gluten-free and I always use the Amaretto even though it says it’s optional. Very rich and chocolatey
