I'm a single woman in my early fifties. When I was young I enjoyed cooking--so much so that I contemplated becoming a chef--well, either that or a full-time homemaker. But neither of those dreams came about, and over the next couple of decades it seemed like work and fatigue took over, and so I lived mostly on takeout and convenience foods.
But in the past few years poorer financial circumstances led me to my local food pantry. So now I cook every weekend in order to have lunches to bring to work and save money. Lunch is my main meal of the day. In the evenings a snack is all that I require.
Since so much of the food that I have on hand was given to me, I'm constantly doing ingredient searches in order to use it up. I use allrecipes.com for that, and that's also what led me to EYB--when a cookbook that I was given was lacking any kind of index at the back of the book. I thought to myself, "There's got to be a better way..."
