November 2018 Cookbook Giveaway Summary

It's the first of the month and that means giveaway roundup time. As a reminder, we have tagged each promotion with the specific region to make them easily searchable. Once you have found your region's tag - bookmark that search and you will never have to scroll through the long giveaway list again. To further help, I have set out the tags below with links to the proper searches. Click on your country (or, of course, worldwide) and you will have a listing of giveaways available to you. Vancouver Eats: Signature Recipes from the City's Best Restaurants by Joanne Sasvari, an EYBD title, is a beautiful book that shares signature recipes from the city's best restaurants and, as I have mentioned before, Figure1's cooks and eats series are among my favorites. What I love about these books are not only the profiles, recipes and photographs but that the recipes are very approachable. For instance Milk chocolate panna cotta with Oreo crumb and raspberries, while elegant, is not difficult to create at all. The recipes are restaurant quality but doable for all levels of cooks. Nicola's book is stunning and guides us through the steps to better eating beginning with stocking your pantry with staples made from scratch and creating meals that are comforting, nutritious and beautiful. Now & Again
by Julia Turshen is a keeper that is seasonally organized by menus with ideas for reimagining leftovers, which in turn eliminates food waste. However, before you have a leftover you must have the original meal. Therefore, she shares dishes that are comforting and varied with myriad ideas to make leftovers (if any) fresh and exciting. This book like all her previous work is no small victory. Julia is touring in support of her book and her schedule can be found on our calendar. Rose's Baking Basics by Rose Levy Beranbaum was written with the novice baker in mind but presented in a way that experienced bakers will appreciate and value. What is noticed immediately are the wealth of photographs which detail each step of the recipe process. The amount of work that went into the photography alone is staggering. I am an experienced baker and following Rose's recipes in this title is effortless. Comfort: Food to Soothe the Soul is John Whaite's latest title and is the balm needed to heal whatever ailment might present itself - a hard day, a broken heart or frustration that we can't watch the latest bake-off for another year! Baking books are my downfall. While I can sometimes pull away from a cookbook (like a piece of metal from a magnet), I do not have much restraint when facing a title devoted to baking.
