Biography

Susan Loomis was born in Orlando, Florida. Her childhood was spent moving around the USA and from country to country with her military father. She met and married Michael Loomis, a sculptor, in 1983.

Trained as a journalist, Susan found my calling as a food writer very young. Before she launched her writing career, she went to France to learn how to cook. Her reasoning was that she should know what she was talking about, be able to understand what she was eating. She fell in love with the whole world of food and cooking, which led her on a culinary nomad’s life around the world, talking with producers and getting their recipes, stories, cultural tidbits. She has written fourteen books, runs an exclusive cooking school for twenty years, written for major publications in the U.S., been on many television and radio programs. And now, she has launched Dancing Tomatoes.
