John Gregory-Smith

Biography

John Gregory-Smith is a chef, presenter and best selling author who specialises in Middle Eastern and North African cuisine. He has written five cookbooks, including bestseller Orange Blossom and Honey, Turkish Delights, Mighty Spice Express and Mighty Spice Cookbook. His fifth book, Saffron in the Souks, is out May 2019.

John is passionate about travelling to far-flung, and often undiscovered destinations to learn about the food, and use the cuisine as a way to understand the wider culture. He is all about local, home cooking and sizzling street foods. He has travelled extensively around Morocco, Turkey, Israel, Palestine, India, Mexico, China and Southeast Asia.

John is also a food and travel journalist and he has written for various publications including Condé Nast Traveller, Grazia, BA Highlife, Evening Standard, Attitude, Metro, Delicious and Out There. He works as a presenter, appearing in the UK and USA, including hosting online series Telegraphs Fabulous Foodies and appearing regularly on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

His recipes have been featured in Olive, Waitrose Magazine, Sainsbury’s Magazine, The Times, The Daily Mail, Men’s Health, GQ, House and Home, Red Magazine and Stylist.
