Biography

Originally from Russia, Alissa has lived in the UK since the late 1990s, making London her home. She studied film history, gaining a PhD in the field of Soviet Holocaust cinema, while working with various film festivals and running her own cultural events production company. In 2014 after leaving her career in the arts sector, she launched KinoVino which rapidly gained recognition as one of the most original projects redefining London’s food scene. Since its launch she has developed a bespoke event branch, hosted supper clubs under her own name exploring food from my native Russia and released her debut cookbook Salt and Time in 2019. Her recipes are featured in The Guardian, Red Magazine, Olive Magazine, The Independent and House & Garden amongst other leading UK publications. While my events have been highlighted in Vogue, Elle, TimeOut, and she was shortlisted for the Young British Foodie Awards in 2017. She also had the honour of being listed at number one of the new voices in food by the Observer Food Magazine in February 2019, and having her cooking named a new trend for 2021 by Waitrose Magazine. She is working on a second cookbook due out in 2023.
