Ian Hemphill


Ian 'Herbie' Hemphill is one of Australia's foremost culinary herb and spice experts. The son of John and Rosemary Hemphill, pioneers of the Australian herb and spice scene in the 1950s, Herbie spent his childhood surrounded by spices - and then, perhaps inevitably, went on to create his own spice empire, aptly named Herbie's Spices. Herbie has written a number of books, including Spice Notes and Recipes and Sticks, Seeds, Pods and Leaves. His spice shop is a Sydney institution for food lovers.
