Browsing through forum this morning on "say hi" I came across two interesting blogs by EYB members. One was by veronicafrance the other by bakingaddict..I will be going back to them. Will they be added to EYB list?

Eventually I would hope that all blogs by EYB members would get indexed but at the moment we are completely overloaded indexing the blogs that members have requested in our survey.  We are currently doing one with over 5,000 recipes and about to start another which will have over 2,000.

We have approached bloggers who are not on our priority list to see if they are interested in indexing their own blogs, in the same way that members index their own cookbooks.  Only a few have taken it on so far but it's a start.  So if veronicafrance or bakingaddict (or any other EYB members who have a blog) want to index their own blogs we would be happy to set that up for them.

To be perfectly honest, I'd rather index my books than my blog; I know what's in my blog and anyway, it's got a search box :) Whereas only about 50% of my books are indexed so far. Personally I would far rather EYB prioritised indexing books, not blogs. I use foodblogsearch.com when I want to look for blog recipes.

They don't need to be indexed. If they were listed with their web address we could find them. If we just look in food bloggers search we would not know whether they were EYB members.. Not interested in just any old blog.Ive already printed out a couple of veronicafrance and bakingaddict to cook.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Cati :) I just feel, since indexing is a lot of work, that the priority should be books rather than online sources which can be searched in other ways. But I think it's a great idea to have a list of EYB member blogs, plus a custom search that only searches those blogs (the way Foodblogsearch works). Then they wouldn't need to be manually indexed, and it would be a great way of sharing our recipes with fellow EYB members.

It would be easy enough to start a forum topic where members can "advertise" their blogs if they wish to do so.

I agree that I would like the focus for EYB to be on books, even though I am a food blogger myself. I always select the Books only choice when searching.

Any EYB member who has a blog can add a link to their blog on their profile page.  Click your username at top right, then Profile, then Edit and add the link.  While on that topic, it would be nice if members added a little bit about themselves in their Profile.

The reason for adding blogs is to make EYB a complete search engine for your recipes, wherever they might be.  We are still indexing lots of books and magazines and member indexing is really picking up as well.  Although the general view here seems to be that you aren't interested in blogs, I'm not sure that is the general EYB view.  Smitten Kitchen, the most popular blog, would rank in the top 30 books on EYB.

It would be a good idea to start a Forum topic on EYB member's blogs, in fact I will do it now.
