      I can see why this recipe was in the 50 Best Recipes Ever issue. It was really good. The pastry was very plain which actually worked well with the sweetness of the filling. I hadn't added ground almonds to a treacle tart before but I really liked the result.. The only issue was that it needed 10 minutes longer cooking time than the recipe stated.

      No surprises in the way it tastes--rarebit, just what I wanted for dinner this cold night. It was difficult to achieve the texture I wanted, though I needed to add a lot more flour than the recipe called for.
