• Zucchini-ricotta fritters

    Good taste. I used lemon confit instead of lemon zest. My (homemade) ricotta was a little wet and the fritters ended being too loose. I added some flour. It's critical for the pan to be hot otherwise the fritters stick to the pan.

• Cocktail meatballs

    Finally, the cocktail meatball recipe I have been looking for. The mace adds a pleasing complexity to the meatballs, and the sauce is rich and succulent. I followed the recipe instructions through step 2, but then I doubled the sauce and cooked them for a few hours in the slow cooker to finish.

• Free-form blueberry tart

    This was an easy and tasty recipe- I used a combination of blueberries and blackberries rather than all blueberries. The dough is really easy to work with and the crystallized ginger adds a nice twist (it is not strong at all).

• Warm corn chowder salad with bacon and cider vinegar

    Excellent--I added a stalk of celery, sliced. Easy recipe.

• Braised collard greens

    Super basic, but works fine. I just reduced the amounts as I was only cooking about a 1lb bunch to go with Hoppin' John. Dan said the greens were nice and mild...not bitter.
