Can I search for ingredients that are also recipes in the same book?   Go to last post Go to last unread

Is there a way to search for all the recipes in a book that use another recipe as an ingredient? For example, I have "Flour" by Joanne Chang, and I would like to know which recipes I can make with her Basic Brioche dough. If I search for "brioche chang", I get:

- Basic brioche - the main recipe

- Black pepper brioche loaves

- Sugar and spice brioche buns

- Brioche au chocolat

I do not get these recipes in the search results, which I suppose is because they don't have brioche in their names. They do use the dough as an ingredient, but the EYB index seems to include the list of dough ingredients without actually linking to the dough recipe. Am I missing something, or is it just not possible to do this type of search?

- Pain aux raisins

- Craqueline

- Sticky sticky buns

It is not possible to do that search - the issue would be that we would have to list both the ingredient brioche dough and the constituent ingredients which would be confusing. Where a sub-recipe is something you can easily buy like stock or za'atar we list that and you can then decide whether to make the cookbook recipe or use your own ingredient. But that would not be the case for brioche dough. You can read more about Recipes within Recipes in the Member Indexing Manual.

If you think the brioche recipe usage from Flour is something you may want to refer to, you could add a 'brioche dough' bookmark to the recipes using the dough then it is easy to filter the recipes in the book.

Thanks for the explanation.
