(a.) I know a bunch of y'all have bar code scanners, and I'm planning to get one too.  Any words of advice?  Brand, price, source, features to look for or avoid?

(b.) The reason I'm getting one is that Powell's, which is probably the best bookstore in the world (not hyperbole, just sober assessment), no longer buys books at their warehouse, where I used to sell them.  So I'm going to start selling them books online.  If you don't know about selling books to Powell's, and you ever want to get rid of books (only books in excellent condition), see whether the online selling option might work for you.

I got a bar code scanner on Amazon that I used to scan my collection into EYB.  Now that's done and I don't really have much use for it -- it's perfectly easy to type the ISBN by hand for one or two new books.  It was very handy, though, with lots of books to add!  This was the least expensive model on Amazon and it works like a charm.  Just plugged it into the USB port on my computer and it was ready to go!  Point it at the ISBN code, push the button and you're done!  If you want it, I'd sell it for $20. Just e-mail me at [email protected] with details!  Sounds like you'll have more use for it than I will!

Well, robm kindly sold me his scanner, which is great, but I have sad news about Powell's.  The prices they offer for remote books are way below what they will give you in one of their stores.  So I'll still be loading up my car for a run down to Portland from time to time.
