I posted a general inquiry in the another section, but realized it would be nice to have our cookbooks researched and have a listing here of any cookbook errata. Or does this sound impossible? I assume it would have to be based in the first edition.

The best place to note cookbook errata is on the Notes for each individual recipe.  Then it is much more likely to be noticed by anyone looking at that recipe.  The Recipe Notes are also compiled for each book so again anyone looking at the book can see how many errata there are.

The problem if you list all the errata as a Forum topic is that each individual recipe correction could get lost.  As a Note it is always firmly attached to that recipe.

Thanks so very much for your reply. Right now if I find any postings of errata for a cookbook,(ex: The Bread Bible), I make a copy of all the errata for the book and place it in the front cover. This way if I ever give any books away, the corrections are there.
Thanks for your wonderful service. I am really enjoying my membership.

I was just looking at this recipe:

http://www.eatyourbooks....97479/the-christmas-fish

I couldn't believe that Patience Gray could come up with something that sounded so disgusting, so I looked it up in the book. The ingredients list on EYB is wildly wrong. There is no fish in it, and no angel food cake! I'll put a note on the recipe, but I would much rather the ingredients list was corrected as it's blatantly wrong compared to what the book says. Is there an official way of reporting errors other than notes on recipes?

Sounds like the indexer on this one was not paying attention at all.  There is a Report an error link at the bottom of the page.  Click that, tell us what you spotted and we correct it straight away. You have to tell us the book, recipe name, what ingredients are missing or wrong as we don't often have the book available as it was usually borrowed from the library by the indexer long ago.

Don't just make a Note on the recipe, we prefer to correct all the ingredients so they will correctly show up in search results. We really appreciate any and all error reports we get so please do tell us anything you see, no matter how small - we want the data on EYB to be 100% accurate.

wow, that was quick! Thanks Jane, I have done that. Feel free to delete my note on the recipe.
