Loving the site, although I'm sad that less than half of the 40 books I've entered are indexed - I do understand that these things take time, so wait in hope.  Mostly surprised that Elizabeth David wasn't higher on your list to index.  I know she isn't American, but must be high on everyone's list of essentials.  Maybe you're doing it now.....

Thanks!

Sally

I wrote this post then went to see what Elizabeth David books were indexed - and fouind that both Mediterranean Food and French Provincial Cooking are indexed, but I've managed to choose the wrong editions.  As a new user this is confusing - needless to say your book covers look different, and I guess they are different editions, but it is something that could be made easier!  Thanks again.,

We have actually indexed most of Elizabeth David's books and the remaining two (that have recipes) are scheduled to be indexed.  We have so far indexed:

A Book of Mediterranean Food

Elizabeth David's Christmas

English Bread and Yeast Cooking

French Provincial Cooking

Italian Food

Summer Cooking

Scheduled to be indexed:

French Country Cooking

Spices, Salt and Aromatics in the English Kitchen

I don't think there are recipes in her other books of food writing - please let me know if I'm wrong there.

The linking of indexed books with all the other editions has been hard to get right but we will be working on it when we have the site redesign completed in the next few weeks.  At the moment all indexed books are linked to all other editions so the recipes will appear in your searches even if your edition wasn't indexed.  We want to set up a system where all linked books share other information - ratings, comments, number of bookshelves, etc.  Just one edition will be displayed in Library search results (the one that most members own) but you can click on the links to see all the other editions.  If you selected a different edition for your Bookshelf that is the one that will be displayed in your Bookshelf searches.

On your other point about not enough of your books being indexed, 19 out of your 40 are indexed which gives you more than 5,000 recipes to search through in seconds.  We haven't actually launched the website in the UK yet though of course there are no borders on the internet, so we now have members in 37 different countries.  We are recruiting more indexers in the UK and will be indexing a lot more British books in the coming months so you will see your recipe count going up.

I didn't realise that unindexed editions of books that are indexed still had the recipes indexed, that is really sensible, thank you!
