Can anyone recommend a good book of yeast/bread cookery published in the UK?  I am looking for recipes for fruit breads and sweet breads.

One of the classics is Bread and Yeast Cookery by Elizabeth David. More recent authors such as Paul Hollywood, Richard Bertinet and Dan Lepard have written well respected books on bread making. Maybe take a look at these books in the EYB Library.

Paul Hollywood's How to Bake has a good variety of sweet and savoury options (plus some cakes and puddings). I've also got Dan Lepard's The Handmade Loaf, for those who want to get seriously into bread. I don't use it much though, because I got hooked on sourdough and it is focused mainly on yeast. The Hollywood book has a whole chapter on sourdough loaves, which is nice.

James Morton, a winner of GBBO, wrote a book called Brilliant Bread -- I haven't seen it but it gets rave reviews on Amazon.
