Hi all,

is anyone here doing 5:2? What are your favourite 'fast day' meals? How do you go cooking with other household members not 'fasting'?

Here's one of mine - 202 (according to the recipe) if you don't serve with rice for the 'faster' - could always use cauli-rice too

Hi J, we're doing it too (husband and I) but only recently restarted after a gap of a few years. I'm vegetarian and on fast days tend to skip breakfast, have a low calorie soup or salad for lunch and then something a bit more substantial in the evening etc. G. veggie stew. I tend to have tangerine as a snack to keep me going. Husband is not vegetarian so tends to have cauli rice and meat of some kind for lunch. I definitely find it easier to use recipes so that the calories have all been worked out rather than having to do it myself.
Happy to share recipes but I'm mainly doing a few by Celia Brooks and Elly Curshen at the moment.

I am thinking of doing this, so will be watching this thread with interest.
I recently got Elly Curshen's book for ideas.

Goodluck raybun.

That sounds really good J! Already got meals for this week planned but might try it next week. Raybun, if you're considering it I'd really recommend watching the Horizon documentary Eat, Fast and Live Longer. It persuaded us to give it a go.

I will try and watch that, although I'm already convinced by what I've researched in the past week. My first fast day is tomorrow. I work the night shift (19:30-6am) so am going to have to adapt it to my strange hours. I'm making a batch of Chunky butternut mulligatawny (bbcgoodfood website) today.

I haven't made that yet, but thought it sounded good. Let us know what you think.

I just left a note for the soup. It was tasty and filling but could have done with a bit more heat in my opinion.
I'll be making it again, but will tweak it a bit. One week in, so far so good!

So a month later i'm 4 kilos down! I love the flexibility of it, being able to eat normally 5 days of the week and fast for two.
I have Fast days by Laura Herring & Elly Pears book for inspiration.
