You can index without page numbers - we would just turn off that field. In fact in the early days of the site we did not include page numbers as we were concerned that different editions (which would be linked to the indexed book) could have different layouts and page numbering so the page numbers would be wrong for linked books, which would be worse than having no numbers at all. After a few years we decided that since most cookbooks just have one edition we would start adding page numbers. So members will see that some recipes on their Bookshelf have page numbers and some do not. We are working our way through the early books to add them but there are a lot to do so if any member would like to add the numbers for their own books, please do contact us. It really doesn't take long (much less time than indexing a book!).
