I've been using EYB for a bit to determine if it will help me out with organizing my recipes (not having much success with spreadsheet and other options).  I love what EYB has to offer and I'm thinking about the Premium membership but I have a couple questions.

In the membership comparison table, what is the "Create searchable index of ALL your recipes" feature (under Organizational) that is available to Premium members only?  I'd like to understand what this feature would do beyond regular searching.  I looked around and in the help but didn't really see an explanation.

Also, when searching for a recipe on my bookshelf, I would like to search in bookmarks "Look in Books" (say to find all my baking books only) AND also search in bookmarks "Show only recipes" to find all "my favorite recipes" (but only from my baking books).  Is there a way to do this?   When I select one bookmark search it eliminates the other bookmark search so I can only pick one or the other.  Would the premium searchable index help me out with this?

Hi JazPon - I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the EYB service. In answer to your questions:

"Create searchable index of ALL your recipes" means that with a Premium membership you can add all your cookbooks and all your magazines plus any online and personal recipes. A free membership restricts you to 5 cookbooks or magazines. Now of course it is likely that not every cookbook and magazine you own will be indexed but you have the option to index those yourself.

Unfortunately at the moment you can use only one bookmark at a time so you cannot search for Favorite recipes in your baking books. It is on our development to-do list to remedy this.

Thanks for the info! I knew I was limited to 5 books and that premium gave “unlimited”. For some reason my brain thought it was some cool searchable index feature that I was not figuring out LOL.
I look forward to being able to do the double bookmark search.

Hi JazPon :). I've been a Premium member for a while now and can heartily recommend it. I actually find it more useful than I thought I would (originally joined more as a way to keep track of my cookbook collection of 300+). There are two standout reasons that I love my EYB membership.

The first has been the re-visiting of cookboooks I hadn't opened in a while, which is something that happens when your cookbook collection starts growing lol. A recipe search will bring up a title that tempts you to go and grab that cookbook, and reminds you why you bought it in the firstplace. That often leads to a few days of revisiting old favourites from that book, or trying recipes that I had never cooked from that book before.

A surprising benefit that hadn't crossed my mind initially was saving money whilst I shop. If you open up EYB on your phone before you head to the greengrocer/butcher/fishmonger/supermarket you can really take advantage of any great specials or fantastic looking fresh produce you spot. Enter the ingredient you see in search, choose the recipe you like the look of and have the rest of the ingredient list on hand so you can grab them and cook the dish when you get home. I've found not only does it save me money but it also lessens the risk of food wastage - I'm buying an ingredient on special already knowing what I'm going to cook with it :).

I hope you do decide to go Premium as being able to search everything is fantastic, and you'll find your own reasons that you love EYB as you use it more. Have fun, stay safe and keep cooking :)

obbigttam - thanks for the great tips!  I am cooking more and more at home and love trying new recipes so I know it will pay for itself.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Premium membership.  I just had to make sure how everything worked and get my bookmarks etc set up before I started loading things in.  I figured it would be easier to set up things and then start entering my cookbooks.  Then maybe tackle the online recipes I've collected.  I've set up recipes in several different software programs, sites, etc.  I really need to get things organized!  Thanks again.
