The issue of member indexing large books has come up a few times. I'm wondering about taking on one of my large books (Frances Bissell's Times Cookbook), but I know it will take me ages and I can imagine losing motivation half way through.

So one idea I've had is to start indexing it as "personal recipes" - that way, I will have the benefit of the partially indexed book as I go, which is more likely to keep me motivated.

The question is, if I manage to complete the whole thing, would there be a way of EYB converting this set of personal recipes into an indexed book? So that it could benefit the other 38 members who own it.

Hi Roger - I'm afraid it isn't possible to convert personal recipes to a book index. The personal recipes aren't a "set" as they are not linked in any way. That is definitely a large book to index thouugh several members have taken on (and completed) even larger books. As long as we know the index is progressing we won't put you under any pressure (though if that motivates you, we're happy to send you regular chasing emails!).
