How does one go about saving an online recipe link to one's personal recipes only?  There doesn't seem to be any such selection currently on the EYB bookmarklet.

You can use the "Personal Recipes" link on the left hand side of this website. An indexing form will open up and you can fill it out just like for an online recipe. Having the actual recipe open in another tab of your web browser would probably be helpful. When you are filling out the indexing form, there should be a field for the "Online URL" where you can copy and paste the link to the recipe. If you do it this way, it will only be saved to your personal collection.

Thanks Chris08226 - your response was spot on.  We are currently considering whether we should make it optional when using the Bookmarklet that members can make the recipe personal.  On the one hand this allows members who don't want to follow EYB's indexing rules to just add basic info as they will be the only person using that recipe (though of course the recipe is less accessible to them too without the categories and all the ingredients).  On the other hand this denies the rest of the EYB members access to that recipe (unless someone else adds it).  Any views?

I think that's a pretty good idea to give people the option. For me, it felt easy to jump into indexing online recipes because I already had quite a bit of practice. I had already taken the time to learn to index from the manual, had indexed quite a few of my own books, and had gotten some helpful feedback from the EYB team. I would imagine that some members might just want to add a few recipes here and there and might not want to bother with all the rules, proper formatting, etc. This way people would have the option of either following the EYB rules or just "winging it" and not have to worry about if it's been done "correctly." If at some time down  the road, they wanted to take a closer look at how EYB does things, they always could (I personally found it very interesting to read how the indexing system works). I would not want to discourage people from trying to member-index online recipes, but for those who really want to do things their own way, this would probably make it a lot easier for everyone. (However, people should know that choosing not to go along with the EYB rules could create some inconsistencies in their searches.)

I was excited by the ability to make a note of good blog recipes [Life got in the way, and I haven't done it yet].  However, I don't want to delve in depth (or search by ingredients) in a recipe that looks good online. Mostly I just want to make a note.."Oooh, that looks good". I'd like to remember something and where I found it so I can browse around my "maybe-good-ones" and sift out the best at a later date.

When I browse my real cookbooks, I often note certain recipes in an indexed book and highlight that recipe in my EYB bookshelf with my own bookmark, "Potential".  Again, this is not the hard-core route to a good idea/recipe, but just a computer "Post It note", suggesting further investigation in the future.

Yes, my system would not make good potentials from online recipes available to other EYB users, but then I would prefer to save the sharing capabilities for those items which I have spent more time on, maybe even cooked.  I have found some really great things following other online/indexed recipes from EYB members.  But I would also appreciate a quickie way to remember something I found while decompressing from work at 11PM, laptop and cocktail on the coffee table while I sit on the floor surrounded by dogs and cats.  A button saying "Potential" or "Check Later" would be a wonderful feature.

Thanks for the feedback.

rivergait - you can mark online recipes that you add, either to the Library or as Personal recipes, by bookmarking them.  Create a Bookmark called Potential (which it sounds like you have done already) then when you add an online recipe, mark it with the Bookmark.  The Bookmark field is in the Bookmarklet pop-up and when you click it you see a drop-down of your personal Bookmarks so it only appears in your own searches, not all EYB members.
