Following my earlier post, no recommendations. I bought a couple second hand, published by Canadian Living; it seems that traditional Canadian cooking comprises pudding chomeur, tourtiere and poutine!

Everything else is just a version of what is out there already!

Don't forget tarte au sirop d'erable! I've been searching for the perfect recipe for years, but have had to stop recipe-testing lest diabetes set in!

There is "Out of Old NS Kitchens" first published in 1970 and references very traditional dishes and many in a historical context.  I'm sure other provinces would have similar writings. My favourite contemporary cookbooks from the Maritimes have been written by Chef and proprietor of Chives Canadian Bistro, one of the top 100 best restaurants in Canada lists.  I eat there often, and his food reflects his local, sustainable, slow food movement philosophy. He was involved in a mega event recreating a historical menu to celebrate 400th anniversary of the Acadians-wow.  Talk about Canadian food and history-get a menu from that event.

In my cookbook collection have a large selection of Maritime cookbooks, and I am sure each region of Canada has it's own writings.  I also have quite a few from  BC, some from Newfoundland and the territories as well.

Aside from the many CL publications, more modern eclectic can be found in "The Great Canadian Feast" published by Canadian Geographic in 2002.

Hope this has been helpful

Have you tried Anita Stewart's book, 2008, Canada? Also, the Laura Secord Canadian cookbook? Disc Cookery by Jurgen Gothe, Vancouver Cooks, Diane Clement's Chef on the Run and Zest for Life?
