Would love to be able to sort books manually into a multi-level file system within cookshelf* So I'd have a folder named cookbooks at the top level. then I'd click it and get folders named European, Nordic, Asian etc Id then click say European which would open up to folders for France, Spain etc or if I clicked Asian I'd get Indian, Thai etc. I'd also like to sort books into baking/bread, baking/cakes  etc.

* think like the Kindle app and collections but being able to drill down.

Thanks, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to use the ingredients search and get a useful result without it feeling like I'm having to write a pro level Excel formula in filters. I searched for courgette and got nearly 5,000 results or 189 pages. Being able to sort books into categories like I and I suspect most others do for their physical books would be hugely helpful. Also I'm now tending to buy cookbooks to read not just for the recipes. Wonder if my request is a function of a largish library. How do others do it?

I have a large cookbook collection with almost half a million recipes on my Bookshelf. The two ways I deal with large recipe search results is to sort the results by Buzz so I see the recipes that most other members have engaged with. Or apply my bookmark filter "I want to cook this" to see recipes I have already identified as being of interest.

In terms of searching within groups of books, I suggest creating and adding bookmark tags with whatever your needs are. So for Indio32 that would be European, Asian, Nordic, etc. Then when recipe searching they can apply that bookmark filter to say only see recipes in say their Asian books. Of course they can also apply the EYB Asian filter to just see those recipes so that's not the best illustration. But your bookmark filters for your books could be Complicated or Easy, Weeknight or Entertaining, Winter or Summer, Favorites or Unloved - whatever works for you.

It would be nice if we could use the bookmarks interchangably between books and recipes, so we would not need to create duplicate bookmarks for books and recipes. European, Asian, Nordic are great examples where the bookmark can be used for both.
