Hi there,

I have a number of books that have ISBN numbers, but when I enter them in 'Import Books' I get a message saying: ISBN is not in the Eat Your Books library.

I am very happy to index the books myself, but what do I need to do to get the books added to the library?

That message could be clearer.  It means that the book you imported is not in the EYB library but we will try to import the data from Amazon and add it to the Library and your Bookshelf.  Of the 3 ISBNs you imported, one book was added, and two were not on Amazon so could not be added.  You can always see which of your requests have been added by sorting your Bookshelf by "Date added to Library" and the newest books are at the top.

If you want to index either of the two books we could not add, email us at info@eatyourbooks with the book data and we will add it for you.  We can only do this for books that members want to index as it is quite time consuming.  The data we need is:
ISBN, Book title, Sub-title, Author, Publisher, Country and date of publication, Format, Number of pages.  If you can scan or take a photo of the cover that would help too.  Don't worry about size or cropping as we can do that here but just try to have the cover as square on as possible.

Yes TrishaCP - we need the ISBN to pull in the data from Amazon.  At some point on the future (when we have some spare money after paying for all the indexing!) we will add a feature that allows members to import their own book data.  Then it won't matter whether there is an ISBN or not.  We have added books in the past without ISBN numbers when members want to index them.
