I'm searching my books for a few new ingredients I got in my CSA that I'm new to and I'm getting the oddest search results.  The item in question is Kohlrabi, it tells me  i have 130 returns but half way down the first page I no longer see it as an ingredient. Am I missing something in searching or is the search being helpful and suggesting other similar recipes I might sub in?

Uually when something like that happens it is because there are linked ingredients that are a different name for that ingredient. However, for kohlrabi I cannot see any variants. Can you email us to [email protected] a screenshot of the recipes you are seeing that shouldn't be in the results?

It is possible there is some link which I'm not seeing so I have asked our developer to take a look.

kaliedra, Wow. that's weird. I see what you mean - searching for kohlrabi brings up recipes for turnips as well.

Good thing is, you can use kohlrabi in most recipes that call for turnips (some people call kohlrabi a cabbage turnip - basically translating the name from German). Aim for recipes that call for baby turnips, Japanese turnips or white turnips to get the closest flavor profile and cooking time, as once peeled, kohlrabi are nice and tender, and can even be eaten raw.

I grow my own kohlrabi, and mine are still little so I haven't been looking for recipes yet. Thanks for finding this now, so I'm not confused in the next month or so when I have dozens of kohlrabi to cook. :)

I also found rutabega and turnip greens. I get substitutions but I've never found them similar :D Love it when the technology keeps us on our toes

Yeah, I like rutabaga, but I can't imagine those substitions working out well at all. :)
