Any thoughts/ideas as to how one could mark books that are listed in EYB that they do not own "yet" on a personal wish list?  Since you have to add them to your shelf before you can bookmark them, I am wondering how to flag books of interest that are listed in the general library, especially those that have been indexed.

My workaround has been to create a 'wishlist' bookmark. That list got long enough that I added a 'shortlist' bookmark, for ones that I intend to buy next -- or take out of library next; I have a 'library' bookmark to list cookbooks of interest that are in my local library. Similarly, I have bookmarks for good friends who own cookbooks that I might borrow or have borrowed (another form of library).

An artifact of this system is that I appear to have many more cookbooks than I really do in EYB's pages showing 'members with book X on their bookshelf'. When searching for recipes, I usually limit the books to my 'kitchen shelf' bookmark. Though sometimes I've also included the 'library' bookmark, and it's led me to check out a book. So far, being able to use a cookbook for a few weeks has been a great help in deciding for or against a purchase (2 buys, 9 averted so far).

A feature request I have, related to my 'wishlist' bookmark workaround, is the ability to bookmark a cookbook at the time of adding it to my bookshelf from the EYB Library.   Currently, if I add a book I have to open My Bookshelf in a new window, load the new book, and bookmark it.

An interim, workaround feature request would be for a default, automatic 'Unbookmarked' bookmark, which would include all books on My Bookshelf that are without bookmarks.

Firstly I would just like to congratulate EYB again on a great website! I admit that I am the guilty owner of many wonderful cook books and until now I have spent hours and hours reading and admiring them but not actually cooking very much. This was very similar to my other problem of owning lots of clothes but having 'nothing to wear'! I knew I had the recipes and roughly what I wanted, but never quite knew where to look for what I wanted to cook at any particular time. However, with the searchable database I now find myself using EYB almost every day. I take my iPad to work and browse my recipes and create menus and shopping lists during my lunch-time.  I have cooked more often since becoming a member a few months ago than ever before.

I agree that a 'Wish List' would be a good feature. I know that phone Apps have already been mentioned, but an iPad App would also be great! Also, I know that this may be way down the 'to do' list, but a weekly menu planer would be fantastic - particularly if recipes could be 'dragged and dropped' into it and then a shopping list generated automatically.

Thanks for the numerous updates already - I have been really surprised how many enhancements have already been made to the site during the short time which I have been a member. I am particularly looking forward to the member indexing feature, but I am sure that all of the future updates will also be a success.

Thanks Sue21 for your kind words.  I'm not sure what you mean by an iPad app.  You can use EYB with an iPad in the same way you use it on a computer. A smartphone interface is designed for a small screen, removing all superfluous screen content and stripping the site down to the basic functions.  The iPhone app will have quite different functions.

ellabee - we will need to talk to our developers about whether we can bookmark books on the Library.  I think probably not.  My Bookshelf is where all functions related to the books you own are carried out.

I have been enjoying accessing to EYB via my ipad, especially when shopping for cookbooks. It's helpful to know whether or not the book has been indexed and now, we'll also be able to see what folks have been thinking about the recipes in addition to seeing member's review of the books.

That said, I was doing some menu planning the other day and I found that the filter pull-down menus in the Recipes view (Look in Books, Show Only Recipes, Sort by") wouldn't scroll so I could only select from the first few items in each list. On the other hand, the pull-down menus for the "Only Show" filters on the right hand side of the screen were operational.

What this meant was that I was unable to access the bookmarks I'd created earlier.

If ipad users have a trick to address this issue, please let me know.

Thanks SueMmm - this sounds like an iPad coding issue.  We'll get our developers to look into it.
