When I'm entering online recipe information, it gives the option for 5 photos. Often these photos are advertising photos for other recipe links or just the first 5 on the website. A lot of recipes have several photos showing each step in the process, so the photo showing the actual finished dish is well after the first 5. Is there a way to have the number of photos we select from expanded, maybe to 10, or to just have all photos from the webpage available to select from?

I'm not sure expanding the number would help as sites can be really bad about tagging the photos related to the recipe. You would probably just see a lot more adverts. Just add a note as to which recipe you want and Cathy will make sure that is the one that is loaded when she approves the recipe.

The most recent one was tortellini spinach bake with creamy lemon sauce. I don’t remember the earlier ones I came across. For this recipe at least, expanding the number certainly would have helped, and I see this format a lot with online food blogs, where they show step by step photos of making the recipe, and the final photo being at the end.

It should be best blog practice to have the best photo at the top of the post as that is what every web crawler will select as the photo to be linked to that post. You would think everyone would know that by now!

Jane, that is one of my pet peeves! They don't need to hold us in suspense to see what the finished dish will look like, and we'd probably be more interested in checking out the recipe (usually way at the bottom after all the steps/photos/ads) if they'd just show us the best photo at the top!

But in the case of this particular recipe I was adding, the blog did have a small photo of the finished dish at the top, but EYB indexing didn't pull that photo.

MarciK - the issue can be that the blogger has not tagged the recipe correctly so our import does not pick up that the photo should be imported. In a few months we are looking to improve the recipe data imports which will include photo imports (we have another big development project we have on first).
