I have several cook books in e-book format that I would like to index. Do page numbers in e-books usually differ from those in physical books? What is the rule for adding a page number from an e-book?

vlong29, if there are page #'s in an ebook, they usually correspond to the pagination in the print book, but it depends on the book/publisher. Even if the ebook pagination is different, or not present at all, it's not necessarily a deal-breaker for indexing; we may be able to find a pro indexer or member who has the print book and can supply the page #'s after the fact. If you'll send me a list of the ebooks you'd like to index ([email protected]), I can do some research and get back to you.

When I'm indexing an ebook I always put a comment for Sydney in the Indexer comments box for the first recipe to say it's an ebook that I'm working from and that's why I've left out the page numbers.  I don't think I've seen an ebook that has the page numbers printed as if it were the book.
