Being a Canadian, I am hoping that you might be able to index the magazine, Canadian Living.

Can you please add your request to the Forum topic How to suggest magazines for indexing?  It's much easier for us if all the requests are in one place.

We would love to index Canadian Living but we cannot get any response from the magazine.  Maybe you as a reader could try contacting them explaining why it would be useful for you if the magazine was indexed on EYB.

In case you want to add them to your EYB bookshelf: I've member-indexed the 2011-2021 Canadian Living holiday special issues.   I plan to continue indexing these annual issues, going back to 1996.  

Hi Jane....I sent off a quick email to CL asking if they would consider having EYB index their monthly issues and explaining why I (and MANY others) would appreciate it.  We'll see if I get a response.

Why do you need CL's permission?

It's not that we need permission but that it is a huge commitment to us starting indexing a magazine. We want to index a decent number of back issues (for some magazines we have indexed every issue they have ever published). And we would prefer to get advance access to upcoming issues so we can have the index go live on pub date (not many magazines do that to be honest). Finally, if we are going to provide an index of their recipes (which costs us a lot to produce) we want some commitment from the magazine that they will publicize our index once it goes live. The problem with Canadaina Living is that they have not responded to my emails at all so we cannot even start the discussion. It's been a while since I last contacted them so I will try again.

Thank you marvymer !! I use my Canadian Living magazine specials all the time, especially the older ones....I have some older than 1996. I'm going to check out which ones you've indexed right now. I've never attempted indexing but you're inspiring me...a new year project perhaps. I'll contact Canadian Living too and see if I get a response. 

You're welcome Karen!  I really enjoy member indexing.  I think it's a great way to get to know my cookbooks better, and learn about new ingredients and baking techniques.  I hope you do take up indexing and tackle your favourite Canadian living special issues.  If we're both working on them, we'll get through them faster.   And unlike you, I don't have any older than 1996.
