Hi

I like the idea as I have quite a lot of uninexed books but I worry that people may index what is relevant to them rather than as good/the same as/conistently as when the site does it.  For example, someone culd just index the recipes that they like in a book or something.  Are you doing any checks when someone indexes?

I should add - I love the site and use it frequently as I have a lot of books (not all listed yet) abnd enjoy comparing teh same recipes and the ability to search for using leftover ingredients.

As a member who has indexed quite a few of my own books, I can say that we follow the same rules from the same manual as any other indexer. We are not allowed to just skip recipes and when we are finished the books are also proofread by one of the EYB staff. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I don't think that a person who is not interested in indexing correctly is volunteering to do so. I want all the books I index to be "up to par" so to speak so that my search results can be consistent. A poor job on my part would negatively impact me just as much as it would impact another member who owns that book.

Lillibet - as chris08226 says, we proofread every book that is member indexed and give a lot of feedback to member indexers to ensure the quality is as good as our professionally indexed books.  However, we are not checking the recipes indexed against the actual book so if any member ever notices that a recipe is missing, please let us know and we will add it.

I agree that is unlikely that any member would choose just to partially index a book.  If anyone wants to index only their personal favorites from a cookbook, they can do that as Personal recipes which are then only available in their own searches.
