Thought that bulk additions to my bookshelf were over and there would only be the occasional single update. Not now. 🤪 My Christmas swag includes seven of the River Cottage Handbook series (including the two I have been considering buying for several years namely Cakes and Bread) plus a further half-a-dozen baking books (including three on my actual wishlist and one on my i-must-add-that-to-my-wishlist list). Also a couple of others that are new to me but still very welcome additions to my physical library.

How did everyone else fair?

Every year, I share a short wishlist with my partner and he purchases 3 books from that.  This year, I was thrilled to unwrap Barefoot Contessa's Go-To Dinners, Bobble Flay's Sundays with Sophie and Milk Street's Cook What You Have.  I still remember one Boxing Day when I was happily wrapped in a blanket on the couch with tea and that year's new books.  A friend dropped by and when he asked what I was reading, he turned to T incredulously and said (apparently diapproving!) "Dude! You bought her COOKBOOKS??"  T just smiled & nodded as my head shot up and I exclaimed "Hey - don't interfere!!"  

Also, my birthday is in January and I think my gift to myself is going to be Smitten Kitchen Keepers :)

Oh there were 350 books in my Amazon "Save for Later" list before I signed up here! 🤪

The shelves are already groaning which is why there is a 1.5m high tower of books in the sitting room and that does not include the two 30cm piles of my Christmas gifts in the kitchen. 😋

I love the River Cottage Handbooks too and can't wait for the rest of the series, which who knows might come as birthday presents.

Pam the Jam is also one of my Instagram followees. Been a fan of hers since she first appeared on the TV programme. Indeed been a fan of pretty much everyone who has appeared on the show.

I have kept my 'swag' to a reasonable number w/o duplicates by showing my daughter how to see my bookshelf on EYB. I also email a wish list of a few desired books to keep the number in check. In addition to my wished-for: Smiiten Kitchen Keepers and Ottolenghi Test Kitchen Extra Good Things, I received a book I was not aware of. I am reading and bookmarking lots of recipes in Gregory Gourdet's Everyone's Table.

Great topic, PatheticBaker! My favourite Christmas present this year is the Pan Chancho Café Cookbook (Kingston, Ontario, Canada).  My parents picked it up for me from the Café right before Christmas.  I don't see this cookbook listed online anywhere except for on the Café's own webpage.  It look's like they self-published this book (unlike their previous book), so I added it to the EYB library using the "Add member books" option.  I love this cookbook, and hope it is eventually available more broadly online.  Next step, I've requested to index it!
