I followed the howto instructions to put the widget on my website. The widget is there, but it says I have 226 books. I assumed it would reflect the number of books I actually have, i.e. 97. It seems a bit silly to have a number otherwise. See: http://www.larecettedujour.org/
Oh ... and now that I look more closely at the supplied HTML code that I copied from EYB, it actually has 226 hard-coded into it. So it's not dynamic at all. I could edit it to say 97, but then if I add or remove cookbooks it won't update. Is this how it's supposed to be?
That number isn't hard-coded - once you have loaded the widget it checks back with EYB on how many books/blogs/magazines/ you have and loads that number. I'm not sure why 226 was in as the sample number but it has been reset to zero. When anyone looks at the preview on their Profile page they will see their own number. And it will keep up-to-date as you add books, magazines and blogs to your Bookshelf.
hmm, I can report that the widget doesn't work in Opera then. It says 97 in Safari, Chrome and Firefox ,and 226 in Opera, which is my default browser :(
Thanks, I'll feed that back to our developers.
OK veronicafrance - our developer has fixed the issue with Opera but you will need to re-import the widget. Please do let us know if you have any further issues with it.
Yay! It works. Thanks for the quick fix.
The widget doesn't seem to work in Chrome, either. I first assumed that my (Wordpress-based) website was stripping out the code, but then I realized it works fine in Firefox and Safari.
Won't load using Chrome 29 on the Mac, at least.
There is an issue using Javascript on wordpress.com hosted blogs. Is yours hosted by them or a third-party? If Wordpress hosted, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you HTML for the non-Javascript version. Unfortunately this cannot display the number of books on your Bookshelf but it does link through to your EYB profile.
