1) I think that using "the" as the first word of a title is a flawed system. Im currently looking at the book MARTHA STEWART LIVING COOKBOOK which is how I refer to it, but, lo and behold, there's a very small "the" at the beggining of the title. AND the "THE" section of the this index is already getting way too unwieldy. One could just enter "(The)" followed by the second word of the title and use the SECOND word as the INDEXED word. This book's index line would look like this:
(The)Martha Stewart Living Cookbook --thus it would be listed under the M's, not the T's
If you scroll thru the 900 plus books in inventory now, (and the kazillion more that may be added in the future) I think you'll see the seaching advantage of NOT using "the" as an indexing word. Any other thoughts?
