We've mined our recipe cards (and memories) for Gramma's cooking notes. Here you will find recipes dating from the early 1900s through today. All recipes stem from a newly married couple, born of farmer stock in Wisconsin, who went pioneering out west. Eventually they settled in eastern Washington State. They had no one to depend on but themselves. They ate what they brought with them, what they harvested, and what their domesticated animals provided. They learned the seasons of their new home - when to plant, harvest, put up stores, and snuggle. They raised a family and helped build a community. And from such folks, the West developed into what it is today. A bit of their pioneering spirit runs through all of their descendents as does their love of good, homey food. In this book you will find recipes that began in Gramma Jaquish's kitchen (although many have been modernized during the generations).
