The Odd Duck Almanac is back! A useful and accessible guide meant to teach a few tricks in the kitchen and give some strategies for living bountifully in our new reality. For the 2021 edition, we look back at 2020, an unorthodox year almost completely lost to shutdowns and quarantine. To do this, we took the subject matter largely out of the restaurants and into a place we've all been spending a lot more time recently: our homes. This is where we've cooked most, if not all, our meals in 2020. It's where we taught ourselves to bake bread for the first time, or where we turned a spare bedroom into an ad hoc yoga studio. Home is where we've struggled to find yet another engaging activity for the kids, and where, if we're lucky, we've kindled the embers of our relationships, even in the face of imposed distance. 2020 was a year of personal reinvention and a year where sometimes a batch of chocolate chip cookies is all that stood between us and madness.
