Publishers Text

In 1990, Colorado was little more than a single tiny grape on the map of the country's respected wine regions, with only four wineries in the entire state. More than a decade later, Colorado's wine industry has exploded, growing at a faster pace than in any state in the country. Today, Colorado boasts 38 official wineries, and is finally getting the recognition it deserves as a geographical area with much wine-making growth and potential. The quality of Colorado wine has also blossomed, receiving increased attention from beyond the state's borders.

The Guide to Colorado Wineries is a travel-oriented trip through all of Colorado's wineries. From the heart of the industry in Grand Valley near Grand Junction, where most of the grapes are grown, to the more remote areas of the state, to the more popular urban setting of the Front Range, wineries can be found throughout Colorado. They also exist in unlikely spots--one is the highest-altitude winery in the world, while others are located in the fashion corridors of Aspen, as well as in canyon country, where ancient civilizations once flourished.

This new edition details each winery, how to find them, and offers an overview of the industry. In addition, each winery is designated by its label, and the winemakers' favorite recipes are featured in a special section. Travel information for each region as well as space for personal notes on wines, a list of local festivals, and a glossary of wine terms are also featured.
