Publishers Text

Most babies begin solid foods at around 4 months. A good sign that your baby is ready to start solid foods is his excitement while watching you eat or looking expectantly at the food on your plate. This book walks parents through the steps necessary to begin feeding their child solid food.

Beginning with the basic tools (bib, bowls and spoons, washcloth, and possibly a raincoat for yourself), the authors go on to provide tips to help you lead your child down the path to solid foods. With studies showing that babies are far more receptive to new tastes and flavors than previously believed, the introduction of solid foods has lifelong consequences.

Helpful tips are provided on when and how to wean, how to make mealtimes fun, as well as hints form making your own pureed baby food. Simple guides explain vitamins and nutrition; there is also a list of the foods to avoid such as salt, sugar and wheat-based foods for babies under six months.
