    Anchovies are listed in the recipe but not included here, so this recipe isn’t strictly vegetarian.

    I’d personally double the amount of pine nuts, kale, basil, garlic cloves, cream & Parmesan (if using 500g of macaroni) if you want more umami (especially from the cheese). It’s much tastier and saltier if you do use the anchovies but then isn’t strictly vegetarian.
