Baked meatballs with burnt aubergine from The Guardian by Yotam Ottolenghi

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Can substitute pine nuts for flaked almonds.

Not the prettiest of dinners and TBH, not the most exciting either. Ottolenghi sets such high standards that I expect every recipe to knock my socks off. I mean it was good to eat and a perfectly OK weeknight dinner, just it was ordinary. I should add I don't have a gas stove so had to do the eggplant under the broiler/grill, which will have reduced the smokiness. And I was out of parsley. I imagine with those changes it would be a bit more interesting.
